Hot on the heels of AMD's Radeon HD 6990, NVIDIA has now released its own high-end graphics card, the GeForce GTX 590. With its two built-in GPUs, this model will set you back the best part of £600!
The GeForce GTX 590 has two of the GPUs that are already found in the GTX 580 graphics card. These have 512 stream processors (which makes 1,024 in total) although in the GTX 590 they actually work at lower frequencies.
We're still waiting to receive our test model from NVIDIA, but the first reviews we've seen online suggest performances to rival AMD's high-end card. Another nice surprise many reviewers mention is that the fan is incredibly quiet and cools effectively!
However, this monster graphics card is pretty power hungry, running on no less than 700 W and, above all, its £580 price tag will be enough to put more than a few people off.
