The HTML5-compatible Nokia Maps (Navteq) navigation service can now be accessed via a web browser in smartphones running Android and iOS.

There's no Nokia Maps app for iOS and Android users to install on their handset, as is the way with Google Maps, as Nokia Maps (still currently in its beta version) is only accessible via a web browser. The service does, however, have an interface that's been specially designed for use on a mobile phone.

Nokia Maps allows users to locate their position on a map or plan, to request a route to their destination whether on foot or in the car, to easily find a restaurant or cinema for example, and to share a point of interest with contacts via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail. Additional functions are still being developed.
