The iOS version of Nokia's Here Maps is now available in the App Store for Apple's iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.

After launching on the web last week, Nokia's eagerly awaited Here Maps iOS app is now out in the App Store. An Andoid app is also in the pipeline.

The Here iOS app covers 200 countries and offers geo-positioning services, route calculation for pedestrians drivers and public transport, satellite maps and real-time traffic info. You also get a voice-guided GPS function and an offline mode.

Here Maps for iOS is an effective and viable alternative to Apple Maps, Cupertino's own less-than-perfect maps service that came bundled with iOS 6 when Apple decided to cut ties with Google. Nokia's solution is a major rival for Google Maps too, which should be returning to the App Store soon ... so long as Apple agrees to let Google back in.
