Do you remember that deodorant ad in which a woman wore a bracelet with a bell on it to remind herself that she was constantly moving? Well, using the same idea, Nike has come up with a bracelet to help us counter the inactivity that modern technology brings to our lives. This same technology is used here to get us moving, or at least remind us that we aren't doing any sport. As Nike says, life is sport and there's no excuse not to be doing some.
It's a simple principle. The more you move, the more the gauge goes up. Here's a little video from Nike designed to help us understand:
The bracelet display is made up of 100 white LEDs which adapt to surrounding brightness. An accelerometer senses your movements. We've already tested the SportWatch here on DigitalVersus and we intend to do the same with the FuelBand, but we (and you) will have to be patient as it won't be released in Europe until June. In the US it costs USD 150.
