TV Test Round Up: Sony, Sharp and LG

Our selection of TV reviews just keeps on growing, with four new ranges joining the ranks of those already tested: we've just finished trying out LG's PS3000 and PQ3000 plasmas, as well as Sony's V5500 and the new Sharp XS1E.

To start with, Sony is hoping to strike the perfect balance between price and features with its Bravia KDL-46V5500, which shows a marked improvement on the V4500, now featuring a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution screen a 100 Hz mode and an Ethernet port.

The LG 50PQ3000 is a large plasma screen at an attractive price--but does that mean corners have been cut? And what about the LG 50PS3000, which is a little more expensive--is it any better?

Finally, the Sharp Aquos LC-52XS1E leaves wondering whether the size of the price tag really has anything to do with quality. Is this TV, which costs £9000 really nine times better than one that costs just £1000? And don't forget, even at this price, the stand isn't included ...

Note that the Sony V5500 series comes in 32'', 40'', 46'' and 52'' versions, while the Sharp XS1E comes in 52'' and 65'' versions.
