MySpace is expected to launch its ''@myspace.com'' email service for members today according to PaidContent. This system of emails is part of the current Myspace messaging service. Rupert Murdoch recently said that his aim was for the site to retain its distinctness as a place for sharing common interests in contrast to Facebook that, according to him, is more of a directory.
The social networking site that belongs to NewsCorp, announced a 40% reduction in its workforce at the beginning of the month, hopes to be able to interest users in the cachet of this new @myspace brand. It isn't known whether the service will be available outside of the US yet but the launch is likely to be fairly discrete at first.
