ViewSonic leads the way installing PCs inside TVs

We saw it coming a long time ago: the distinction between TVs and computer monitors continues to narrow.  ViewSonic has brought the union of the two product categories one step closer with the promise to include computers in their next line of televisions.

The first model will be a modest 22'' TV, but a whole range of sizes right the way up to 56'' is promised.  On this latest generation of TVs, you'll be able to use the remote to move from one source to the other, just like you always have done: HD TV, HDMI in, Component Video ... and now, PC.

Given the amount of space available, the integrated computer is a fairly modest offering based on netbook components, including an Intel Atom processor.  For gaming, a dedicated console will still be your best bet for the moment, but that shouldn't entirely rule out PC games.  Either way, it will be certainly be powerful enough for you to check your e-mail and surf the web.  In short: all the standard office tasks on a 1920 x 1080 Full HD screen.

We hope to have more details on the launch date, price and the technical details of this range of televisions in the next few weeks.
