Although coming rather slowly out of the blocks, the Microsoft consol took off at the beginning of 2009 (with growth of 28% on the previous year) and there are now an impressive number of them out there, though still behind the Wii and its 50 million machines sold.
In the HD sector itself, Microsoft can be proud of having held the PlayStation 3 at arms length, the PlayStation 3 currently at 22.5 million, a year behind its rival however.
As the favourite gamer consol, it isn’t surprising that the Xbox 360 sells more (8.3 titles) games per consol than any other. There are also around 20 million members of the Xbox Live network community (up 136% over the last six months), who have sourced around a billion downloads, thanks, among other things, to the implementation of the new NXE interface at the end of last year.
Microsoft is promising some exciting announcements at its E3 conference on Monday. Will the new camera we’ve been hearing about be unveiled?
