You couldn't make it up: Postie films himself opening mail with webcam

This has got to be one of the funniest things we've seen all year ...

It all started when one of our French readers opened a thread on our forum with the title "Geeks 1 - Thieving Postmen 0'.  We were shocked, of course, but we've certainly seen packages go astray on the way to our labs in the past.

We'll let our reader, kisskool, speak for himself though:

This morning I got a package from Deal Extreme that should have included a mini-webcam disguised as a button.  I opened it up, and I found that there was no manual or other packaging, but never mind--the camera was there so I thought I'd be able to work it out ...

I started by plugging it into my computer, but then I realised that there was already some video on it.  My first reaction was to get mad at Deal Extreme, until I watched the four clips.  They show a European-looking guy, and Deal Extreme are in Hong Kong.  More importantly, the date is May 22, just a few days ago [and a long time after the package should have shipped from Hong Kong].

I watched all four files and realised that it was the postman who had opened my parcel!  He obviously didn't understand what it was, as you can clearly see his face and then hear him taping the packet back up.  You can also see the classic bright yellow car [that the French postal service uses for all is vehicles].

CRAZY!

As you can see on the forum--you might want to try a Google translation to see what our French readers had to say--has provoked a lot of debate in France, but we've seen the videos and they speak for themselves.  They're no longer online to avoid any legal wranglings, but the whole story is as funny as it is annoying ...
