So, there is more to this game than simply renaming old ranges so as to stay in the limelight without really having anything new to propose. You also have to give something in the way of performance, especially at the top end where expectations are higher and this is exactly what ATI has done with its new Radeon HD 4890.Putting a better bang for your buck ratio on the table: a winning strategy for AMD with its HD 4800 architecture that exists from the bottom to mid range. With the RV790, the manufacturer is attacking the high end segment with the aim of doing some damage to the GeForce GTXs. Not something that should be taken for granted… |

Just to let you know that Regis has received the card and will be publishing his test results next week.
As a taster
Here’s a preview of what he thinks: it’s the new ATI, it’s not for all that a new generation and on the whole the same as before with some improvements here and there to give something that is a little more powerful on paper. The idea: to put out a model that is as fast as the NVIDIA GTX 280 / 285.
But shush! Don’t tell anyone I told you…
