Two new compacts for our 2009 product survey: the Canon PowerShot A1100 IS and Nikon Coolpix S620.Without really competing with each other, the two models do have some similarities: 12 Mpix sensor, 4x optical zoom, VGA video, optical stabilisation. The similarities stop there however as the cameras are in two different categories.
- The Canon PowerShot A1100 IS seems fairly balanced with new features (DIGIC 4 processor, automatic scene recognition...), but still with a 115,000 screen.
- The Nikon Coolpix S620 can be proud of its wide-angle zoom but neglects video and handling of electronic image noise.
