New Test: three new LGTVs and the Phillips Essence 42PES0001H

Today four new models join the ranks of our television tests: three from LG and one from Philips.

Until now, not well represented in our television comparison, LG is playing catch-up with three new models:

• The 42PG2500: a 42 inch plasma, HD Ready, with an HD digital tuner, all at a nice price.

• The LG3500 series: LCDs all with the same spec at 32, 37, 42 inches.

• The LG5500 series: close to the previous series but with veritable Full HD. It exists as a37, 42 and 47 inch version.

Philips is represented by the Essence 42PES0001H; the new flag ship from the Dutch manufacturer. It offers everything that Philips does best right now…except Ambilight. A function still reserved for other models such as Aurea. Essence is available in one size (42 inches), has an ultra-thin design, a sporty look and comes in at... a reasonable price: 2499 euros!
