We gave notice at the beginning of the year and here it is:
This partnership is an ambitious one: it aims to broadcast our articles not only more widely in France, but also around the world and in particular in the United States.
Tom's Hardware, Tom's Guide, Tom's Games and Digital Versus remain nevertheless editorially independent of each other.
As far as I’m concerned and for those of us behind LesNumériques (and its English language version Digital-Versus), this move is a logical step in the development of the online hi-tech press. If we go back a few years, before LesNumériques there was HardWare.fr (with it’s English language version (BeHardWare.com and, of course, Tom's Hardware.
As of today 23 January 2009,
our product tests will be available on Digital Versus, and also, progressively on Tom's Guide and Tom's Hardware, in France, in the UK and in the USA. |
This partnership is an ambitious one: it aims to broadcast our articles not only more widely in France, but also around the world and in particular in the United States.
- Tom's Hardware is an important element in the mix – our tests will be a useful complement to their current offer.
- Tom's Guide generates a huge amount of traffic through their news items, their reports, software studies and guides. The addition of our tests on televisions, cameras, printers, indeed on the 1500 products we receive every year, will provide the content for a new sections that we think will be both popular and useful for their readers.
Tom's Hardware, Tom's Guide, Tom's Games and Digital Versus remain nevertheless editorially independent of each other.
My personal point of view:
As far as I’m concerned and for those of us behind LesNumériques (and its English language version Digital-Versus), this move is a logical step in the development of the online hi-tech press. If we go back a few years, before LesNumériques there was HardWare.fr (with it’s English language version (BeHardWare.com and, of course, Tom's Hardware.
- 2000: arrival at Hardware.fr, I opened the Imaging (photo...), Screens and various tests of peripherals (including printers).
- 2002: transfer to Tom's Hardware to start the same categories.
- 2004: return to HardWare.fr and creation of LesNumériques. Creation of partnerships with various sites, including Tom's Hardware and Tom's Guide (at the time known as Bestofmicro).
- 2006: creation of Focus-Numérique,
- 2008: launch of international versions of LesNumériques : Digital-Versus, whose content would be taken up by the US versions of Tom's Guide and Tom's Hardware in 2009.
- 2009: BestOfMedia / LesNumeriques partnership to distribute our tests on their sites, in addition to their publication on ours. We also now have the opportunity to use information appearing on their sites.
