Good news from Polaroid. After declaring bankruptcy in December, the company announces a new product. With its second PoGo, Polaroid shows it is still operating.
The first of the PoGo series was a standalone portable printer with slightly disappointing results. The second is an Instant Digital Camera with a Zink printer, that is to say a digital version of their traditional instant camera.
Design and integration are significantly better than with Tomy’s xiao™ TIP-521, a camera printer combo by the Japanese toy manufacturer. The whole device here is a mere 4.7-inches wide by 3-inches tall and weighs only 10 ounces.Prints come out as borderless 2”x3”, sticky-backed pictures with options to add fun borders and the possibility to crop the image on the camera before printing.
Sadly, the battery life is not great: a fully charged battery produces only 20 prints or 75 image captures with flash. Little information is provided about the image sensor but one thing is sure, the zoom is only digital (4x).
The PoGo Instant Digital Camera will be available for 199 dollars in Spring.
