Toshiba releases first netbook, NB100

Hot on the heals of just about every other laptop manufacturer out there, now it's time for Toshiba to announce its first netbook, with a specification that is supiciously close to the identikit lineup we've seen so much elsewhere.

The first question you're likely to have, of course, is how much it costs:

  • 329 euros for the NB100-10X running Linux [475 USD / 265 GBP]
  • 379 euros for the NB100-11X running Windows XP [550 USD / 300 GBP]
Just like the Acer Aspire and offerings from other manufacturers, Toshiba's new model combines a 9'' screen, 1.6 GHz Atom processor and either 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM with a 120 GB hard drive.

It's certainly a good-looking model, but there's not a lot that distinguishes it from other models out there at the minute.
