We first got news of it back in June, but the Samsung F2380 has finally arrived … given the nice surprise that we discovered when we saw how much it will be selling for, though, we don't mind waiting!
Let's have a look at the details:
Which is why this new Samsung FC2380 is so interesting! In July, we learnt that it would be more expensive than we had originally thought, but now it's on sale at a much more reasonable price that's even comparable to some TN screens.
Right now, the new F2380 is garnering a lot of attention at the start of the new year. If it's as good as we expect, then TN technology might finally be on its way out and everybody will go for this Samsung instead.
So: our number pen priority is going to be testing it, so you know exactly what it's like!

Let's have a look at the details:
- The Samsung F2380 has a panel that uses PVA technology, which should be more responsive and have wider viewing angles than the more usual TN panels.
- In particular, the vertical viewing angle on a TN panel is very limited, with the image soon appearing black as you tilt the screen. That can affect their ability to correctly display colours, even when you're looking at them straight on. If you look at this pairing from our Product Face-Off, you can compare a PVA screen against a TN screen.
- The result is that you all seem to be leaving TN screens behind in the hope getting accurate colours, plumping for one of the three alternatives: MVA (almost impossible to find, unfortunately), PVA (much beloved of Samsung) or IPS (developed by LG, but now in Dell's latest monitors).
