On the agenda today: two rather unusual monitors.  One uses WLED technology, while the other is a multipoint touchscreen, similar to the one found on the iPhone, to name just one smartphone.

The AOC V22 (just 2 cm thin!) uses the famous WLED technology, a potential rival to OLED.  It has a glossy frame around a 1680 x 1050 pixel 2 ms TN panel.

The Iiyama ProLite T2250MTS is the first 22'' multipoint touchscreen we've tested.  Is it time to ditch your keyboard and mouse?

Lexmark has changed everything on this WiFi printer – for the better. So much so that it's now our favourite multifunction inkjet. Not only is it connected to the web (and you'll see why that's useful), it also includes a whole set of customisable widgets that make printing considerably easier.

The printing speed has increased, the quality, especially of photos, has improved.  A large, responsive, user-friendly touchscreen has replaced the traditional cluster of buttons, AND – we saved the best for last – this is a smart printer.  Whether you're looking for a new printer or not, this test is well worth a read as it shows just how the market is chaning.  The S605 is almost certain to spawn some imitators soon.

Windows Mobile 6.5: new update for devices with capacitative screens?

Florence Legrand
November 30, 2009 11:57 AM
Microsoft could be on the brink of announcing a new update of its operating system for mobile phones.  This second version of Windows Mobile 6.5 should offer support for capacitative touchscreens.

Previews are already said to be circulating on some peer-to-peer networks, and the main change is a more finger-friendly interface.

Unlike resistive touchscreens, capacitative touchscreen can be controlled by gently brushing your finger across the display rather than pressing down on it.  For example, the iPhone 3G S uses this type of screen, as does the HTC HD2, which works very well on Windows Mobile 6.5, thanks to the Sense software layer developed by the manufacturer that sits on top of Microsoft's OS.
