New Tests: Compact Digital Cameras from Samsung and Nikon

This week, our ongoing survey of digital cameras has seen two new models join the competition, each with its own unique features:
  • The Nikon Coolpix S610c includes a WiFi chip allowing you to connect directly to the manufacturer's MyPictureTown photo sharing service.  Everything else is fairly average, although there's also a decent 28 mm wide angle lens.
  • The Samsung L310W is interesting because it too has a wide angle lens but comes at a very interesting price.  With a 13 Megapixel sensor on board as well, it's a rather technically ambitious piece of kit for its price range.
So, what are they like?  Is WiFi a new killer feature for digital cameras or a useless gadget?  And has Samsung managed to grab the middle ground of the compact market too following its progress with more expensive models?

New Test: Blackberry Storm, the first clickable touchscreen mobile

A plain old touchscreen interface wasn't good enough for the Blackberry Storm.  Instead, RIM has innovated, borrowing the gentle touch of Apple's iPhone (a simple tap will do for most functions) and adding the ability to 'click' the screen to confirm your choice.

The clickable screen is supposed to avoid the problem with touchscreens which are all too easily brushed by mistake.  But does it work?

Our full test looks at this innovative new feature to decide whether it's worth using on everyday basis.
