The Panasonic TZ5, one of the stars of 2008 and the first compact to feature a 10x zoom now has a new rival in the shape of the Canon PowerShot SX110IS. The new model comes even cheaper than Panasonic's predecessor, too, but seems to be aiming at a very different audience.
Read our review to check out what's happening at the very top end of the range of compact digital cameras where the distinction with bridges is beginning to be blurred.

Are you looking for the most visually stunning mouse, the most original - the one that has something that the others just don't? The new Microsoft Arc Mouse may well be for you … as well as having a very unique look, the mouse folds in two when not in use:

We haven't yet had a chance to get our hands on it, though we hope to soon as it's now on sale.
The mouse has still not yet been officially announced, but there is already plenty of buzz about it online. There are still quite a few conflicting reports about the new product, including some blog posts suggesting it will be wired (it won't!)
It's a wireless mouse, with two batteries, available in black and red, and if its good looks will appear to desktop users after a little bit of style, then its clever folding case should impress road warriors needing a comfortable but portable mouse.

New TVs from Loewe: Individual Compose and Art SL

Like other TV manufacturers, Loewe used the IFA trade show in Berlin to unveil some of its new models, which we've now had a chance to take a closer look at.
The Individual Compose line (right) has been renewed with several new options that place it right at the very top of the range with pretty much every feature available in modern televisions on board.
A Full HD panel at 100 Hz, 24p compatibility and a HD digital tuner all now come as standard across the range.
The list of optional extras, though, is even more impressive: a satellite tuner, a hard drive for recording programs, a Media Center option for reading audio and video files from a PC, four different colors for the front of the case, seven finishes for the sides and a whole range of different speakers can all be added.
This made-to-measure service and customizability come at a price of course, and a hefty one at that. An Individual Compose TV in white will set you back anywhere from 4490 euros (40'' screen) to 6690 euros (52'').
Loewe's Art collection, meanwhile, also has a new addition, the Art SL Full HD+ 100 (left) - the SL stands for Slim Line, apparently, and it seems that getting as thin a screen as possible is one of the key battlegrounds for TV manufacturers this season.
This TV's 9 cm panel supports Full HD and 24p, and has a refresh rate of 100 Hz. A built in HD-compatible tuner is included, and for 500 euros you can add a 250 GB hard drive to record programs, although this option is on special offer through December 2008 and comes in at just 250 euros.
Available in a smaller range of colors than the Individual Compose TVs, the Art SL Full HD+ 100 will be available in November in a 42'' version and then in larger sizes from December.

Asus releases Eee Box, desktop Eee PC

Asus' new computer, the EeeBox, is designed to complement its EeePC range of netbooks and is the size of a paperback book. Its compact form factor allow it to be easily hung on the back of a monitor.
Apart from being so small, this new machine's killer feature is that, like some of Asus' netbooks, it can load a limited environment suitable for browsing the web in just 7 seconds.
It's available in both white and black:
Inside, these machines are built from fairly modest, netbook-standard, components. That means an Atom 270 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive.
Windows XP comes as standard, but a keyboard, mouse and other accessories don't.

Things aren't so simple, however. The potential buyer has had to rethink its offer, freezing negotiations for the time being. Discussions had already been put back by a month, and now the companies have until the end of September to find a solution.
At the moment, nobody knows what will become of these two brands, and the only certainty is that the company's European staff have been paid off, including 360 workers at the factory in Aix-la-Chapelle, France, as well as teals in the UK, Italy, Spain and Poland.
