In the new product survey, we test four graphics cards, two from ATI and two from NVIDIA. Size, energy consumption, noise pollution, we give the cards a good run through.

The Radeon HD 4830 512 MB (ATI) has the same technology as the Radeon HD 4870 and 4850. The difference lies with the clocks, that are revised downwards on this model.

The Radeon HD 4670 512 MB (ATI) is from the same generation as the Radeon HD 4800. It is in fact a lower end version, giving lower performance, designed for those who don’t play games much or who don’t want to bankrupt themselves.

The GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB (NVIDIA) is a lighter version of the 9800 GT (and therefore of the 8800 GT). The performance difference between these two models is in the region of 10% to 20% on average. A card destined for the occasional player or those who aren’t too concerned about graphic detail in games.

The GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB
(NVIDIA) is a GeForce 9 only by name. In reality, what we have is a GeForce 8800 GT.
