The first example is the MGS-PM5 which has a similar form factor to a smartphone. Available in black, pink, turquoise and white, it has a lens that can turn through 270° to film a huge range of shots while keeping the 2.4'' screen flat. An extra panoramic lens is included which you can clip on to film 360°, which is enough to give you all of St Mark's Square in a single take on your next trip to Venice. The PM5 uses the MP4 format at 1920 x 1080 pixels (30p) or 1280 x 720 pixels (60p). It includes editing software to view your clips (especially those shot in 360°) and upload them to sharing sites like YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook. It will be available in February.
The second option is the MHS-CM5, a 1080p and 720p HD camcorder which this time has a 'pistol' form factor, with a rotating LCD screen measuring 2.6'', a 5x optical zoom and a mini HDMI port.
Both the Bloggie PM5 and the CM5 record onto Memory Stick Duo Pro or SDHC cards (which aren't supplied), and include a mini USB cable stored in the case that allows you to copy your movies onto your computer or recharge the battery.
