New Laptop Test: MSI X610 and Medion Akoya S5611

MSI's X-Slim X600 family continues to grow, and the manufacturer has taken the opportunity of a switch to an AMD chip to move over to Windows 7.  Medion has also got involved, using the same basic frame in its Medion Akoya S5611, which promises to offer excellent value for money.

The MSI X-Slim X610 has inherited the look-and-feel of the X600 that we tested back in September last year.  It's now running Windows 7, but its predecessor's dual-core processor has been replaced by a single-core AMD CPU. 

Following its usual approach, Medion has taken the basics of MSI X600 to produce a powerful, but more affordable laptop.  For under £500, the Medion Akoya S5611 is has a dual-core processor, a dedicated graphics card and a 15.6'' display.  The battery life is still good, which rounds off what is a very attractive little computer.
