MWC: Samsung digs its teeth into the Shark

Samsung unveiled another family of phones to join its Omnia, Corby, Galaxy, Player, and now, Wave handsets: the Shark, which we heard a few details about in January.

Like the new Monte range, there will be Sharks: the Shark AMOLED (S5550), the Shark (S5350) and the Shark Slider (S3550).

The AMOLED version will be at the top of the ranger and has a slide-out keyboard, 3G+, Bluetooth and a 5 Megapixel camera.  As its name suggests, the 2.2'' screen will have an AMOLED display, which is something of a novelty for a handset like this and should bring noticeable improvements in battery life.

The Shark has most of the same features, but leaves behind the AMOLED display and sliding form factor as it's a candy bar phone.

Finally, the Shark Slider gets the sliding keyboard back, but only has EDGE instead of 3G.  Its camera loses three megapixels, leaving a 2 MP sensor.  The screen has been cut back to 2'' too.

More news on pricing and availability to follow.
