Samsung has apparently shipped 1 million Galaxy Note handsets—that's the big smartphone (5.3-inches) that looks more like a mini-tablet.

Presented at IFA and on sale for the last two months, the Galaxy Note is a sort of hybrid mobile that has nonetheless found a market among professionals and tech lovers. According to Samsung, the Note has already been shipped to the tune of 1 million handsets. Note that these are sales to resellers rather than end consumers.

Well received by resellers in Asia and Europe, particularly in France and Germany, the Note and its stylus could soon cross the Atlantic too.

Bigger than the largest current smartphones but smaller than the tiniest tablets, the Galaxy Note seems to have created a new product segment. With its powerful marketing to back things up, Samsung has succeeded where Dell failed with the Streak a little over a year ago.
