LG has now officially announced its latest Prada phone. The super-slim LG Prada 3.0—or Prada Phone by LG—is the third smartphone cooked up between the Korean tech firm and the Italian luxury goods giant, but this time it comes with Android.

LG has ditched the home-grown OS seen in previous Prada mobiles in favour of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with a reworked interface. The switch to Android will no doubt give the third Prada handset broader appeal, especially since an update to Ice Cream Sandwich is in the pipeline.

As expected, the LG Prada 3.0 is a very stylish phone, with a sleek, understated design. It has a 4.3-inch WVGA screen and is supermodel slim at just 8.5 mm thick. It runs on a 1 Ghz dual-core processor (by TI), has 8 GB of memory (which can be expanded) and an 8-Megapixel camera.

Release dates and prices are still to be confirmed, but the LG Prada 3.0 is expected to land sometime in January 2012.
