It was already known that Samsung wouldn't have the Galaxy S3's successor on display in Barcelona, but the company did use MWC as a platform to announce that it will be presenting the Galaxy S4 in New York on 14 March.

Samsung announced yesterday the coming release of the Galaxy Note 8.0. And this morning the brand quashed rumours—which turned out to be true—that it will be presenting the GS4 in just a few weeks' time.

Samsung reportedly chose New York as the venue to appease American carriers, who want the new flagship smartphone to be launched on the US market.
