Lenovo LePad S2005: Mini-Tablet or Maxi-Mobile?

TestLenovo's latest gadget, the LePad S2005, seems to be a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note, straddling the boundary between tablet and smartphones with its five-inch screen.

The firm has decided to give this segment, half-way between smartphones and touchscreen tablets but with relatively few products as yet, a go.  The new LePad S2005 won't fit in everybody's pocket, but we're sure that just like the Galaxy Note, it will win favour with both business users and younger customers keen to have a bigger display on their mobile device without having something as big as a tablet.  For the time being, there are relatively few products in this category, squeezed out at both ends by larger smartphones and smaller tablets.  We'll have to see whether they take off, but sometimes offering an innovative new product can stimulate demand.

Lenovo's new device will run Android 2.3, weigh just under 300 g and have a 480 x 500 pixel display measuring five inches across.  It will also get a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm and a 5 Megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p video.
