Huawei has decided to rival the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with its own giant smartphone, named the Ascend Mate, which sports a 6.1" LCD screen.

Expected to be showcased at CES 2013 in January, details of Huawei's flagship Ascend Mate smartphone are now starting to trickle through. The super-sized smartphone has a 6.1" Full HD LCD screen (that's 15.5 cm). It's due to run on a 1.8 GHz quad-core processor and use a 4000 mA battery to keep the handset powered up. The Ascend Mate is a sleek 9.9 mm thick and runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

Huawei is expected to officially unveil the Ascend Mate in Las Vegas on 7 January 2013. In the meantime, check out this first presentation video of the Ascend Mate that's been spotted online (above).
