Motorola has kicked off 2012 in style with the Droid 4, a power-packed smartphone with a subtle, sober design that's reminiscent of the Razr. However, this particular handset has a full slide-out keyboard.
The Droid 4 runs on a 1.2 GHz Texas Instruments processor and 1 GB of RAM. It has a 4-inch qHD screen (940 x 560 pixels) and a 16 GB internal memory.
In fact, Motorola's Droid 4 basically seems to be a Razr with a slide-out keyboard and a 4-inch screen (instead of the 4.3-inch screen in the Razr).
The handset is loaded with the new version of Motorola's Motoblur interface for Android. The model we saw was running on Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 but Motorola has already confirmed that an upgrade to Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming soon.
The Droid 4 has an 8-Megapixel photo and video camera, a 1785 mAh battery, a micro HDMI output port, a micro USB port and a microSD memory card slot.
The phone itself is fairly thick—mainly due to the keyboard.
Motorola hasn't given a release date for the Droid 4 in Europe yet. In fact, for the time being, the phone will be exclusive to US network Verizon.
