Ahead of the official opening of the CES 2012 tech show today, LG has presented a new smartphone called the Spectrum.

LG announces the 'first truly HD' smartphone (720p)

The Spectrum has an 8-Megapixel camera, which is good, but while it's certainly up there with the best handsets currently on the market, we'll hopefully soon be seeing phones with 12-Megapixel sensors and stabilisation systems, possibly using the mobile camera unit recently developed by Sharp.
