Apple has been eyeing up the enormous potential of the Chinese telephone market for some time and has now obtained a distribution agreement with China Telecom, one of the three largest Chinese operators.

The Chinese telephone market, which is currently exploding, offers enormous potential and development opportunities. Apple is therefore hoping to develop its distribution network there, especially as it lost market share at the end of 2011, dropping from 10.4% to 7.5% between the third and fourth quarter. The brand is having trouble getting the Chinese enthusiastic about the iPhone, distributed exclusively by China Unicom up until now. What's more, the competition is ferocious with Chinese brands such as Huawei and ZTE doing well in both high-end and entry level markets. Apple has just signed a new agreement with China Telecom, one of the three largest Chinese operators. The iPhone 4S will be on sale there as of March 9th and available on pre-order from March 2nd.
