recon instrumentsTechnological sporting isn't new; we've already seen it in things like sports watches and bike GPS's. Now Recon Instruments is pushing it (much) further with the MOD, a goggle display for skiers and snowboarders.

The MOD (for Micro Optics Display) is straight from the future. It's a mini-screen that clips into your ski goggles and gives you real-time stats about your performance (speed, jump height...) in your field of view, as though it were 14 inches big and 5 feet away.

There are two versions of the Micro Optics Display: "MOD" and "MOD Live". MOD Live includes added features such as GPS mapping. MOD Live is Android-powered and can connect to your smartphone so you can use your goggles as a phone. That way you don't have to take off your gloves and fiddle with your phone just to see your friends' texts, for example; they just show up in your field of view. Another cool feature on the MOD Live is the camera function, which can sync to an action cam and display the image in your goggles.

Here it is in action:

The screen has 428 x 240 resolution. So as not to obstruct your vision, the images are displayed in the upper corners of the mask. Here are the specs:
