Back last year, Sony revealed a new, more compact version of its Playstation 3 console, known as the Playstation 3 Slim. Now it looks like Microsoft is revamping its Xbox 360 in a similar way.

It all started when an Italian website leaked the above advert for a new-look Xbox 360, which is already being dubbed 'the Xbox 360 Slim' all over the web. As you can see in the ad, the console has a more contemporary design and is also more compact. It has a 250 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi connectivity and will also be compatible with Microsoft's new Kinect system.

Microsoft has now confirmed the rumours with a press release announcing a 'sleek, silent and sexy' new Xbox 360 that's due to start shipping to US retailers today.

It'll be arriving in Europe on 16 July with a recommended retail price of £199.
