Metronic has announced a new HDVR1 HD-compatible Freeview recorder with an easy-access compartment for a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive.
That means you can record content and transfer it to a computer when the drive gets full. Then, you can start recording on the empty drive all over again.
Depending on the signal in your area, you'll be able to record one or even two different channels while watching another. To do so, channels must be broadcast in the same digital multiplex.
A Timeshift function is on hand for pausing live TV as and when you need, to go to the toilet, make a cuppa, answer the phone, read something very important on DigitalVersus etc. etc.
An Edit function also allows you to get rid of any bits of a programme you don't want to keep i.e. the adverts.
This HD-compatible recorder has HDMI, component and digital audio connections, as well as two scart sockets. The digital output can be switched between 576i/p, 720p and 1080i. That's right, there's no 1080p as HD digital channels are broadcast in 1080i.
As yet, there's no UK release date or price info for the HDVR1.
