Greener Packaging But No Software

The good news is that Verbatim's new memory card packaging uses around 90% less plastic than previous generations of products.

The bad news is that Verbatim doesn't include any data recovery software, either on the card, in the box or on the manufacturer's website. You'd therefore better make sure you don't delete any important files by accident!

This Verbatim SDHC Class 10 memory card is aimed at professional photographers and snap-happy amateurs alike. Class 10 accreditation should guarantee minimum data write speeds of 10 MBps—time to find out if this SDHC card lives up to expectations

Speedier than average

Verbatim respects the data transfer speeds announced, and even surpasses them slightly. Read speeds reach up to 21.8 MBps. At this speed, it'll take around 3 minutes to unload 4 GB of photos from the card. Write speeds exceed expectations too at 18.4 MBps, which means you can copy 4 GB of photos onto the card in around 3 minutes 40 seconds. All in all, this memory card is certainly faster than average, but it's not quite fast enough to warrant a five star score.
