No SD Adapter

Unfortunately, Verbatim doesn't supply an SD adapter with this memory card. And since most card readers and digital cameras aren't directly compatible with the micro SD format, this card can only really be used with a mobile phone.

Currently, micro SDHC is the smallest format of memory card available and is mainly designed to boost the storage capacity of mobile phones. Class 2 accreditation means that this 16 GB Verbatim micro SDHC card should come with a guaranteed write speed of 2 MBps. That's really very slow, and unless this card has surprises up its sleeve, it's likely to end up trailing behind all of the other memory cards we've reviewed.

Write speed could be better

We were pleasantly surprised to see that this memory card surpasses the minimum data transfer speeds announced. Write speeds are just under 7 MBps. That's fine, but it's still a little too slow for use with a top-of-the-range digital camera. Copying 4 GB of photos onto the card will take around 10 minutes, so you'd better not be in a rush! Read speeds are better at 23.4 MBps, which means you can unload 4 GB of data in under 3 minutes.

This Verbatim Micro SDHC 16 GB Class 2 card is perfect for boosting the memory of your mobile phone. Still, it would have been nice to see a slightly faster write speed—you'll need to be patient when copying large files onto the card!
