Storage solutions manufacturer Transcend has also brought out a range of SDHC Ultimate Class 10 memory cards, available in 4, 8 or 16 GB capacities. The manufacturer claims that its ground-breaking new card can achieve read speeds of up to 20 MB/s and write speeds of up to 16 MB/s. Needless to say that with spec like this, we were expecting this Transcend SDHC card to pack a serious punch.
Neck and neck with the Sandisk SDHC Extreme
This memory card performed very well in our tests, with a read speed reaching up to 18.9 MB/s when faced with our barrage of files. It's therefore hot on the heels of the Sandisk SDHC Extreme 16 GB with its read speed of 19.4 MB/s under the same conditions. The Sandisk card still clearly leads on write speeds though, with 18.2 MB/s compared with 17.6 MB/s for the Transcend card.
