New Generation

Old-generation Sandisk Ultra cards had maximum write speeds of around 9 MBps and maximum read speeds of around 16 MBps. Sandisk has therefore clearly boosted speeds in its entry-level cards. This new Ultra SDXC cards could give some competitors' higher-end models a run for their money!
We were expecting this Sandisk SDXC Ultra memory card to have relatively modest data transfer speeds. However, although it shares a name with previous-generation SDXC cards, Sandisk has clearly loaded this new model with a different kind of memory.
Data Transfer Speeds

We couldn't believe the readings we got with CristalDiskMark (using a USB 3.0 card reader). This memory card is as fast as the Lexar Professional 64 GB equivalent. In fact, it even edges ahead when reading files, scoring 26.6 MBps compared with 23.4 MBps for the Lexar. At that rate, it'll take 2 minutes and 30 seconds to unload 4 GB of files. Write speeds are good too, reaching up to 16.9 MBps, which means it'll take just under 4 minutes to write 4 GB of photos to the card.
