The SanDisk SDHC Extreme Pro 16 GB memory card is clearly aimed at photographers and other industry professionals, as UHS-1 certification means that both read and write speeds should reach up to 45 MBps!

Promises Kept

Sandisk extreme pro 16 go

The data transfer speeds we measured very nearly matched those announced in SanDisk's tech specs, which is something we very rarely see in any kind of IT product! Write speeds reached up to 41 MBps, which is the fastest we've seen yet. In comparison, under the same conditions, the best cards we've seen so far plateau at 25 MBps. Read speeds reach up to 44 MBps, which is excellent, but which is still no match for the Integral UltimaPro SDXC C10 64 GB card with its 60 MBps read speed.

In real terms then, it'll take 1 minute and 40 seconds to write 4 GB of photos onto the SanDisk SDHC Extreme Pro 16 GB UHS-1 card or 1 minute and 30 seconds to copy them off again.

Note that you can only get these super-fast read and write speeds with a USB 3.0 card reader. If you're using USB 2.0, the card will be capped at 30 MBps.
