Patent wars are nothing new. But lately they have been spreading like wildfire in what has become a highly competitive high-tech market. Samsung and Apple have notably received profuse media attention for their recent legal sparring over smartphone patents. Now LG is suing its countryman, Samsung, for alleged patent infringement in its OLED screens.

According to an article published yesterday by AFP, LG has just filed a patent infringement suit against Samsung for copying its OLED technology. And not only on its TVs. The complaint addresses seven patents in total, allegedly infringed by five Samsung products, two of which are the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

LG is seeking damages of an unspecified amount, plus a ban on the sale of every product found in violation. This is not the first legal dispute between the two companies; last July, Samsung sued LG for infringing its own patents on the same OLED technology...
