It's not easy getting your hands on LG's incredible Full LED 47LEX8 TV in Europe, but if you do find one, you can easily spend over £4000 on it. One of our readers has sent us this photo of the very same model on sale in South Korea for 4200000 won—or just over half price at £2300.

We started out thinking that the LEX8 represented real competition for the Samsung C9000, but after testing it, it turned out to beat it on every front, with better contrast ratios, colour reproduction, viewing angles and more. We couldn't get an answer from LG about its pricing policy, so we're left wondering why there's such a big difference. Perhaps current production levels aren't high enough for Europe, pushing up the price?

The LEX8 really is an excellent TV. It's the best that we've ever had in our lab, and its IPS panel backlit with 2160 separate LEDs, works wonders. It produced blacks so deep that our equipment couldn't measure it, and featured dynamic backlighting that we're happy to recommend for the first time. All of this in a frame measuring just 8.8 mm.
