Are we about to see the end of 3D glasses? LG have taken a first step in this direction by announcing the arrival of the DX2000.

LG are getting ready to launch - only in Korea for now - the DX2000, a 20 inch LED backlit screen that you can enjoy 3D on without the discomfort of glasses. While the way it works is still a mystery, we do know that it uses a webcam placed on top of the monitor to follow the position of the user's eyes and adjusts the 3D image accordingly. This obviously indicates that only one user can enjoy the experience at any one time.
More generally, this 20 inch (1600 x 900 pixels) has a 5 ms TN panel, DVI and HDMI ins and claims a credible (for once) contrast ratio of 1000: 1. It also has 2D to 3D conversion. Note that the webcam is not used for the 3D image but you can use it for video conferencing.
The DX2000 is, for the moment, reserved for the Korean market for a price in the region of £750. This may seem exorbitant for a 20-inch screen but when you compare it to the first 19-inch OLED, the Sony XEL-1 (£1300), this doesn't seem so expensive. In any case, 3D without glasses is on its way. Let's hope it arrives on our shores before too long (if only so that we can test the thing!).
