Thanks to the LG 50PV350, you can now kit out your living room with a 50-inch plasma TV for under £600! So what do you get for your money?

Well, it's no secret that compromises have to be made on certain components and features to make a 50-inch plasma TV at this price.
- It goes without saying then, that there are no connected services or DLNA connectivity.
- There's no motion compensation feature either, so you may have to put up with a bit of judder in fast-action films.
- In spite of its low price, this TV has Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution rather than the HD Ready (1360 x 768 pixels) resolution often found in entry-level models. That means it'll display HD films or TV shows with a sharp, clear picture and with no loss in definition.
- Connections are as follows: HDMI 1.3 (x2), component (x1), VGA (x1), SCART (x1) and USB (x1). As there are only two HDMI ports, you may have to keep switching cables if you have a Blu-ray player, a set-top box and one of the latest games consoles.
- Freeview HD tuner.
- Slim design: 5.2 cm.
- Plays multimedia files directly from an external storage device.
Although we haven't been able to test this TV for ourselves, we did review three of LG's plasma TVs last year. If those models are anything to go by, you can expect contrast levels of around 2200:1. Plus, like all plasma TVs, the screen will have good viewing angles and brightness levels that remain perfectly consistent across the screen.
