You shouldn't rely on this monitor to take care of upscaling SD content. If you want to enjoy better results: we suggest you leave the job to an external device, whether via a software player or a hardware device like a Blu-ray player or games console.
The ProLite XB2374HDS is Iiyama's first attempt at a monitor with an IPS display. Will this new Full HD, 23'' screen be able to beat the firm's MVA-based displays like the ProLite X2472HD?
Design: on a firm footing
This monitor is an exception to the rule that screens with an IPS display doesn't usually have many features. Iiyama has given its new 23'' screen a height-adjustable stand on a rotating base and a portrait mode. The wide viewing angles provided by IPS technology make portrait mode a particularly useful feature.Add to that the VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs and the pair of 2 x 3 W speakers, and this monitor already offers much more than most of the competition.
Colours: slightly weak contrast ratio
The XB2374HDS falls into the category of monitors that are capable of reproducing colours accurately enough for the vast majority of users but still leave more demanding users wanting a little bit more. With the factory settings, the average deltaE is just 3.5, meaning you're not likely to buy the wrong colour sweater if you're buying online. But if you want to edit photos or do other more graphically demanding tasks, that's probably still not accurate enough for you. In particular, the colour temperature is a little too cool and the gamma curve uneven.

We still don't recommend you add a calibration profile, as only makes a very small difference and doesn't too much to improve the contrast ratio of just 750:1.
Responsiveness: reverse ghosting back to haunt Iiyama again?
Turning on overdrive—or 'OD' as Iiyama calls in—leads to reverse ghosting trailing behind fast-moving objects, even at the lowest setting, so we can only recommend you leave it switched off, as it is by default. This is a problem that we had hoped was behind Iiyama but it's made an unwelcome return.| Responsiveness | ||

Average |
This graph shows the ghosting time, measured in ms, that the monitor takes to entirely remove the previous frame. The shorter the time, the more fluid moving images will appear
The way things are, this monitor is essentially limited to office tasks or web browsing—anything where the content of the display doesn't change very quickly.
It's no better or worse than the average when it comes to input lag: there is a small delay, but it's not long enough to be visible to the naked eye and won't have any effect on multiplayer sessions.
Pluses
-
Wide viewing angles
-
Flexible stand
Minuses
-
Not responsive enough for gaming
-
Below average contrast ratio: 750:1
The XB2374HDS looks interesting on paper, but still has a few problem areas, including below-average contrast and limited responsiveness. The only thing that really stands out is its practical stand.
