The price war continues and BenQ releases two screens at the same time.  Actually, the G2400WA and G2400W are identical except for two details:

•    the price: a roughly 50 euro difference

•    the interfaces : VGA only for the more economical G2400WA and VGA + DVI + HDMI for the G2400W.  For those with HD consoles, the G2400W could be a good deal if they don’t focus too much on the reactivity of pixels. In both cases there is a Full HD panel but with TN technology and a modest response time of 5 ms.

In our lab, we actually received a G2400W, the version with digital connections at the WA wasn’t available for tests.  Nevertheless, we were able to get around this problem by launching two series of tests on the same screen : one in digital, the other in VGA – to simulate a G2400WA.  Results were identical or at least very similar, the only small difference being in terms of colors.  The average gap with our 18 standard test colors increased to 2.5 instead of the 2 in digital.  So analog connectivity isn’t as good ; however, it’s still significantly better than average and represents very good color fidelity.

For the rest, reactivity and ergonomics, take a look at our test of the G2400W.

Pluses

-

Price

-

Preset colors

Minuses

-

No zero dead pixel policy

-

No digital connection

-

Very basic ergonomics

Without a digital connection, you will not be able to relay a game console or DVD player. Is this a bad thing? For office use or looking at photos, the G2400WA is enough and has the advantage of good color fidelity.
