Subscores
The HP Pavilion dm1-1110ef is a version of the HP Pavilion dm1-1010ef that we’ve tested. It’s the same configuration, with the exception of the hard drive that’s 250 GB instead of 320 GB. This one is however faster at 7200 rpm, quite an improvement.
Some stores are offering this version with an external DVD burner!
Handling, design and build: a disappointing touchpad, too glossy
Processing power: a good dual core ULV processor
3D gaming: not for recent titles
Audio: headphones a must
Mobility, battery life: surprisingly good at 5 hours!
Pros
- Battery life: almost 5 hours!
- Dual core CPU
- HDMI out and HD video
- Slim, light and well-finished
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- Glossy poor quality screen
- Too much gloss
- Disappointing touchpad
- Built-in graphics card not adapted to gaming
Conclusion
The HP Pavilion dm1 is built with the same chassis as the Compaq Mini 311c netbook. However it gives better performance, which makes it more responsive without losing out on battery life. The screen is still very average though and some of the choices in terms of build are rather doubtful (too much gloss and poor touchpad).
