Even before Intel coined the word ultrabook, Samsung was one of the few manufacturers to offer a PC alternative to the MacBook Air in the shape of thin, light laptops in its Series 9 range, like the NP900X3A. After showing off the Series 5 Ultra yesterday, Samsung has today unveiled an updated Series 9.
Available in either 13.3'' (13 mm thick and 1.1 kg) or 15'' (15 mm thick and 1.5 kg) form factors, the new Series 9 laptops have a brushed aluminium frame, but feature most of the same components as previous ultrabooks: low-consumption Core i5 and Core i7 processors form Intel and SSDs offering either 128 GB or 264 GB of storage. They also come with USB 3.0 ports and SD card readers

According to Samsung, the new Series 9 laptops will be able to go for ten hours without needing a recharge but will boot up in under ten seconds and be ready from standby in just two. They're set to go on sale in the US in March for around $1450.
