Netbooks aren't dead and buried just yet! In fact, ahead of the CES 2012 tech show due to open next week, Asus has already released some visuals and some basic information about its upcoming 2012 netbook range, the Eee PC Flare 1200 series.

These new Asus netbooks will be available in a range of eye-catching colours, including red, black, blue and purple. Plus, their sleek, curvy design is reminiscent of the ultrabooks we saw take the laptop market by storm towards the end of 2011.

This new netbook range will include at least two models with 12-inch screens—the 1215B and 1225C. They'll be loaded with a new-generation Intel Atom processor (N2600 or N2800), which uses less power than previous Atom CPUs, and which can play 1080p HD video smoothly and seamlessly. Two 10-inch models—the 1025B and 1025CE—will also be available.

More information about specs, prices and release dates is likely to follow at the CES 2012 consumer technology show next week. Watch this space for updates.
