Fighting for its place on the flourishing mobile computer market, Intel has reorganised itself internally to increase effectiveness.
It has to be said that while the company is totally dominant on the traditional processor market, it is still struggling to hold its own in the ultra-mobile segment. While at the start of the decade, Intel was hoping to move rapidly into the smartphone market, its products are still lagging with the Atoms still consuming too much power for such small devices. In the meantime, Qualcomm, TI and Nvidia are racing ahead with their ARM platforms.
So then, Intel is getting its amunition ready for 2012. It'll need it. Qualcomm has been very successful in promoting its Snapdragon to consumers, closely followed by TI with its OMAP and the Nvidia Tegra 3, which is starting to appear on potential star products for the new year.

The new division will be headed up by Hermann Eul, recruited from the Wireless division at Infineon (recent Intel acquisition), and Mike Bell, ex-Apple and Palm.So then, Intel is getting its amunition ready for 2012.
