Announced for September, Sony presented a restyling of two readers in Berlin. They're now all touch and are getting lighter. The eInk technology is also reported to have been improved giving better legibility.
The weight of each model, the Touch (in black, red and silver) and Pocket Edition (available in pink, silver and blue) has been reduced and the contrast ratio reportedly improved. They, however, are still not in colour and there's still no video. We know that Qualcomm, with their Mirasol screen technology, should be introduced to a brand of ebook between now and the end of the year, but apparently the partnership will not be with Sony.
The PRS-650 Touch Edition model has a 6-inch screen and the PRS-350 a 5-inch one. Both have an internal memory of 2 GB (or 1200 books, according to Sony) and support up to a 32 GB extension via SDHC and MemoryStick card reader.
The two readers have been announced at £160 for the Pocket Edition and £200 for the Touch and should be on sale as of mid-September.
